VR version ...

There is also a virtual reality (stereo graphics, head-tracked) version of battalion that runs in the CAVE (tm) and on the Immersadesk(tm). This version was actually the first version of battalion to be publically shown, as the Indi-zone version did not appear until a couple months later.

As of fall 1999, the GL version of the CAVE version of battalion has been upgraded to OpenGL combining all of the features that were added into the OpenGL version of the game over the last 4 years. This version has also now been ported to the Linux and HP versions of the CAVE library, and has been run on a HP powered ImmersaDesk.

"A sophisticated simulation of an elevationally challenged reptile and his ongoing problems with authority."

Early in 1996 I made the following VRML models. They may have some problems with the current crop of VRML 2 browsers.

Some VRML showing Googelon playing battalion in the CAVE(tm).

Some VRML showing Googelon playing battalion on the Immersadesk(tm). (Immersadesk inventor model by Jason Leigh.)

Some VRML showing the field of battle

The CAVE(tm) version of battalion made its first public appearance at the EVE4 art show on May 14th 1995.
