InstructionThank you for your participation in our study. In this study, you are asked to create a short interactive narration in Virtual Harlem using a VR-annotation tool. Imagine that you are a tour guide for Harlem. We would like you to leave an annotation in Virtual Harlem that will enrich the experience for the next generation of students for this class. Find a location of interest in the virtual space to leave your annotation. Please refer to the map to find an area of Harlem (e.g. building or figure). Begin by annoucing your name and what you are going to talk about. Then give a brief 1-2 minute factual description followed by a brief opinion of your own. Remember in the CAVE the computer is tracking your speech as well as your body gestures so you can be as expressive as you like. So take advantage of this by pointing at artifacts you are talking or gesturing with your hands. Here is an example of how an annotation may proceed: "Hi my name is Bryan Carter and I'm going to tell you a little bit about Marcus Garvey. Marcus Garvey believed African Nationalism..... etc... Personally I think nationalism doesn't work because ..." Move the joystick to drive through the Virtual Harlem space (push left/right for panning and push front/back for moving forward and backward). Use button3 to start recording your gesture and voice. Use button2 to stop recording/playing. Pointing at a flag (annotation marker) to play automatically.
