Development of a robust and virtual-reality-device-independent CAVE software library, CAVELib™, and the software infrastructure to support collaborative, shared virtual environments for both scientific and artistic projects, has been a primary focus of EVL's research.

A credible number of papers have been published documenting the results of this research, ranging from conference proceedings to professional journal articles. IEEE Virtual Reality Annual International Symposium, SIGGRAPH, High Performance Computing, SPIE, INET, Computer Graphics, and Eurographics are among the proceedings featuring EVL publications related to virtual reality software.
