The inventors of the CAVE - Thomas DeFanti, Daniel Sandin, and Carolina Cruz-Neira have been named by the IEEE VGTC VR Awards Committee as the 2007 IEEE Virtual Reality Technical Achievement Award winners for their development of the CAVE technology. The award will be presented during the IEEE Virtual Reality Conference (VR2007), March 10-14 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Currently, Thomas DeFanti and Daniel Sandin are Directors of the EVL lab, while Carolina Cruz-Neira is Executive Director, Chief Scientist at the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE).
