description

Animagina is an experimental VR project which plays with technotopian/technopocalyptic symbols in a conceptual environment. The idea of the project is to examine the way we understand these symbols, as they coexist in real time and virtual space. Following the "exquisite corpse" model, a surrealist technique that exploits the mystique of accident, the symbols come together to transport the user into their spatial logic.

specifications

Animagina is built for the CAVE, using Ygdrasil 0_1.11, Bergen spatialzed sound server, Performer 3.0 and the CAVE library. The user can be tracked from the glasses and wand tracker. The Animagina application has been tested on SGI and Linux and optimized for shared experiences with remote participants. For networking demonstrations, the Robust Audio Tool (RAT) is required for audio transmission through the network. In addition, Animagina has been tested on previous versions of Ygdrasil, the Bergen sound server and Performer and imported to the portable augmented C-WALL system successfully.
