The Thing Growing is being programmed for CAVE and/or I-Desk using
Dave Pape's xp VR authoring system
which is built in Performer. The system establishes all the basics for
the VR environment,

Interaction Triggers based on the user position and wand interface

Objects can be grabbable

Scenes, Objects and Behaviors can be swithced on and off
xp offers a hierachical text file system for managing the environment.
The user can build there own xp classes for their specific needs. In
my case I am adding classes to make the Tbing
intelligent, to enable the narrative flow, to make the rocs
behavior etc etc.
