Push/Pop This visit to a virtual art space at first seems very familiar. But upon further inspection, the unusual qualities of a virtual environment become clear as two large transparent constructivist objects spin for the viewer. Surrounding the area are black and white images which are also portals into alternative virtual realities. Spaces which have neither up nor down. These unfamiliar areas form the essence the new digital realm where there are no laws of gravity and the spectator is in need of learning a new vocabulary for the ordering and comprehension of the space. Push/Pop uses both varieties of virtual reality to Push the viewer into these new awkward spaces while also allowing the freedom to Pop back into the more conventional format of reality we have all come to know very intimately. The reality of the landscape. Tom Coffin
