Safari to Planet (i) This idea works with a solution I have been thinking about, after listening to the esthetic and conceptual problems with SCS space: " Safari to Planet (i) " i is for integrated, individual, idesk, integer, id,... Since people really want to create highly individualized environments, what we are really creating is an interplanetary tour. This is actually really hip and contemporary stuff; look at the cover of this week's TIME mag. An Idesk application can be a place to drop in on to check out the local wildlife, or it can be a way of transporting to other sites. The planetary concept sustains coherence in the space, but is sufficiently loose to accomodate to radically different experiences. The challenge comes in dealing with transitions in an elegant way, but by no means imposes any form on anyone's secret transporter technology or worm holes. The Planet(i=0) serves simply as an earth-bound launch pad to help people get re-oriented after nauseous rides. It can provide a friendly visitors center with credits, titles, and a map, as well as links, like a home page, to key locations. From there, the tour travels wherever each planet leads them. Each person simply needs to arrange entrances and exits, based on a common coordinate system. Once a user has arrived, it is up to you to decide how they can leave.
