While in SolidWorks 2007, click on the Design Library tab of the
Task Pane on the right side of your screen.

Click on 3D ContentCentral > Supplier Content > All
Categories > Click here for all categories

In the alphabetic listing click on Switches-General.

Pick a switch from Reid Supply Company or the User Library.

Login to 3D ContentCentral. You must register for a free account.

Preview 3D will let you view and rotate the model in 3D if you
have the Viewpoint Media Player installed.

Download the model - set your download options to:

Format: 3D
·
Format: SolidWorks Part/Assembly
·
Version 2007
·
UNzipped

Save the file to your home directory on the DVL file server of to
you laptop.

Close 3D ContentCentral

Open the model in SolidWorks

Use the Split tool to separate the selected geometries: Insert
> Features > Split

Select the geometries that make up a moving part in the graphic
area. Make sure you have selected all the components (faces, fillets etc).

In the Split Property Manager you should see the selected
components listed under Trim Tools.

Click on Cut Part to cut the model into multiple bodies. The
different bodies are labeled in the graphic area with callout boxes. Click Next
10 to see more than ten.

Check the box next to the body in Resulting Bodies list that was
made from the selected components and double click on the name under File.

In the Save As dialog box that appears save the new body as a part
to your Home directory.

Check the consume check box so that the selected geometries will
be removed from the model.

Click OK

Open the switch part files if they are not open already.

Create a new assembly: File > New > Assembly

The Insert Components property manager will be open listing the
open parts. Select the body of the switch and place it in the graphic area.

Select the new switch part (button, lever, rocker) and place it
near its final destination on the switch body.

Mate the parts as necessary.

Save the assembly

Save the assembly in VRML97 format: File > Save As > Save as
type > VRML

Options > Version: VRML97 - Unit: same as creation unit - Save
in single file.

Import the VRML file into Flux Studio

Find the parts in the tree window (scene graph) and label
appropriately

Move parts out of the Layer 3D group not needed). Delete Layer3D
group.

Select the moving part then Menu > Animation > Animate
selected node.

Animate the part using “Start when Clicked”.

Save as an X3D file for ISO standard Web3D format.
