At SIGGRAPH we showed the Thing Growing on a Panoram
display device in the Electronic Schoolhouse's Playground as part of Charlie
Kesler's VR
Storytelling project. The Thing has a new look - black lines around the edges point up
the transparency and make it pop out of the screen more.

Our part of the project was made possible by various loans.
An Onyx 2 from SGI. Twenty pairs of stereo glasses and emitters from NuVision
and a Flock of Birds Tracking system from EVL. We had been concerned that
the user's shadow would fall on the screen - but the screen was raised
far enough and the person stood far enough back so that the application
worked with few modifications. |

We were very pleased by the way this project and several other CAVE
applications looked on the Panoram - the front projection made it brighter
than usual. Here on the left is Margaret Dolinsky's application Blue Window
Pane, Dave Pape also showed an early version of Historiae Naturalis. |
