Commuting
1979 Mrawlings

Although I blared my horn and shouted obscenities
at the inept drivers of the world, my car remained
parked in the endless line of traffic. I looked at my watch.
8:30. Shit. How was I going to make it to the city by 9:00?

I looked around. I knew I wasn't supposed to use it
during the day, but I couldn't help it. I flicked open
the panel which pretended to hold my radio and hit
the transfer switch. When all the gauges registered normal
and the Transfer Complete light flashed, I increased
my energy field and arced into the sky.
