"SPLAT!" will follow the struggles of Picasso the
pigeon while he attempts to rescue his kidnapped fiancee Chantal. While a full
version of the game could include many different levels of game play, our demo
will focus on one level. The demo will
enable the player to be Picasso, flying around trying to find the evil Nelson,
a human who wants nothing to do with holy pigeon matrimony. While Picasso is looking for Nelson, he must
take out Nelson's hooligans: kids with
bee-bee guns, pick-up truck driving hicks with shotguns, and ninjas throwing
ninja stars. Picasso must also avoid
other obstacles: hawks, airplanes, helicopters, and lightning strikes.

Picasso can attack his enemies in one of two ways: he can
either peck them, or drop something on them.
If he wants to peck his enemies, he must stop flying and get near his
enemy. If he wants to drop something on
his enemies, he has the choice of crapping on his enemies, or dropping
something he may be holding in either his right or left talon.

In order to obtain weapons, Picasso has to pick them up as he
goes along. He has the option of picking
up a pebble, a stone, or a flaming cigarette butt with either claw; this
provides him with the capability to carry two weapons in addition to his
biological one. He can also pick up a
coconut if he has both talons free. Picasso
can also pick up food, which will enable him to crap on his enemies. Lastly, Picasso can pick up armor and
medicine to enable the user to play longer on the same level.
The player will have a certain amount of time to hit a
target(s), depending on the difficulty and enemy. Weapons will differ in the amount of damage
they cause to an opponent, according to a fixed schema. There will also be
various foods that will fill up Picasso's stomach by different
percentages. The medicine and armor will
be fixed values.
The enemies will be either stationary or mobile. Stationary enemies will be: kids with bee-bee
guns, ninjas throwing ninja stars.
Mobile enemies will be vehicles like trucks, cars, and motorcycles. The trucks will have drivers shooting with a
shotgun at Picasso. Nelson will be in a
pick-up truck with the cage holding Chantal.
Nelson will appear after a certain amount of enemies have been
overtaken, and then the level will finish when Nelson is taken out.
The game will display different status bars, including what
he is holding, a small map on the top of the screen displaying the world in 2D,
his health bar, his armor bar, his stomach (certain percentage shaded, meaning
how much he can launch), and points. The
game can be played in either third-person view a-la Grand Theft Auto, or
first-person view. The user will
navigate through a fixed map; all movements will be done by the player using
the keyboard. The world will not rotate
and bring new enemies into view – Picasso must fly around to find new
enemies. When the player comes to the
edge of the map, he will be turned around to face in the proper direction.
