MapPoint
Its Friday night and the weekend's here, you need to unwind...
Where's the party?
The object
of MapPoint is to drive around the city of Chi-Town and find
the location of the party by midnight!
In order to find the location of the party, you have to first
find pieces of a flyer that has the MapPoint location. Once
you have all the pieces of the flyer, you know the location
of the MapPoint and have to find it while exploring the city.
When you are at the MapPoint location, you will be given a
"puzzle" to solve before given the location of the
party. If you solve the puzzle in time, you can party!
While the
player drives around the city trying to find the flyer pieces
and the MapPoint, he also encounters happy/mad clock faces
that if collided with, will give him more time or less time
which adds to the challenge of the game.
MapPoint
is designed for the 12-15 yr. old range to introduce strategy
and problem solving in games.
Control
The car will be controlled by the arrow keys. Once flyer pieces
are collected, you are able to enter the puzzle mode(if found).
In puzzle mode you can either solve the puzzle or exit and
return to the driving mode. The ‘X’ key lets you
leave a puzzle unsolved and begin driving again.
General Notes
- The game will have a time limit. The party must start on
time and you need to be there for it! By decreasing the allotted
time the game becomes more challenging even if certain puzzles
are not that difficult.
- The geography of the game will reflect actual streets in
downtown Chicago.
- The camera is third person and similar to Grand Theft Auto,
however the look of the game will remain somewhat cartoonish
to reflect the age level and flavor of the puzzle environment.
- You cannot save the game in the beta, but in later versions
you can save it and work on the remaining puzzles at a later
time.
Levels and Expandability
The beta version will have flyer pieces that you must collect
in order to solve 1 puzzle to reach your final goal. Once
you have solved the last puzzle in time you will be given
the location of the party and the game will end or else you
lose.
In an expanded version there would be more of Chi-Town to
drive around in and there would be more puzzles to solve.
If there were 9 puzzles you would need to solve the first
3 in any order to be able to solve the next there (in any
order). Only after you have solved the first 3 would the next
3 “blink” and reveal their locations. This would
force a certain storyline and progression in difficulty, while
allowing the player to put a given difficult puzzle aside
for a bit while he went on to solve one that might be easier
to him, therefore allowing the game to continue to be played
if a short term dead end is encountered.

- Collect party flyer pieces

for high school age students.
