Digital Video using Gui's and Betacam

Dumping Digitized Video out to Tape with Orion/Sirius Video on Zbox.

The following steps will demonstrate in a walk through manner the process to digitize footage from a Betacam tape to an RGB image sequence.

1. Setup Edit Suite. ( This is the analog part of the process)

Power up using the Furman power amps (both the editing and audio part).
Set switcher to Sirius option.
Insert blacked tape into the BCB75 (deck A).
Make sure that far right switch under tape slot is set in the up position -> "Remote".
Use control switcher to sirius vlan pin on the Clear Signal Junction Panel. Switch the Player A end to the SiriusVlan connection. ( on bay with CD and DAT )

2. Setup Zbox. (This is the digital part of the process)

Login to zbox 0.0
From a shell window run:
/usr/dmedia/bin/SIRIUS/orion
Once the gui is open make sure that the configuration is correct.
1. Options -> Rescan Vlan Devices
2. View -> videoin
3. Filename -> Filename...(Enter your sequence here)
4. Options -> File Format -> RGB
5. Trigger -> VLAN
6. Capture Mode -> Fields
7. Device -> VTR 1:BVW47
8. Filename Pattern -> %s.%03(or 4).rgb
9. Custom Pattern -> %s.%04.rgb
10. Ring Buffer Size -> 100
Use the "Select" field to enter the path and Name of the rgb sequence that you wish to lay out.
Under the Disk Controls Option
1. In the Frames/Edit field enter the numbers of frames per edit.
  This is the number of frames that will be loaded into memory ( I recommend between 60 and 100)
2. in the Start Frame enter the first frame number you want to want to record.
3. in the End Frame field enter the last frame in the sequence to be recorded.
Under the Video Controls Option
1. Use jog control to set in point
Click on the "Lay Down" button to begin your drop. It will take time to load the frames into memory, preroll and drop. This increments according to your Frames/Edit number, loading two fields for each frame priors to dropping.
