Reservations

Since each M.F.A. candidate had to produce their own announcement for the show, there was some confusion regarding wording on the cards. Ultimately, it all balanced out. Initially, we did not have one contact name for reservations or method for taking reservations at the time the cards were sent out, but the method that evolved did work. All reservations taken prior to the event were made through me at EVL. I wrote down the names of the people attending for each day and asked if they wanted their tickets sent to them or if they would pick them up at the door. On days when the gallery was open, tickets were distributed on site at the gallery, otherwise, there was a special desk in ERF where tickets could be retrieved on the day of the event.

Once the event began, callers were directed to contact the gallery to make reservations so that only one reservation form was circulated and written upon. In addition, the tickets that correlated to a particular time were removed from the stock so that overbooking could be prevented. To my knowledge, no overbooking resulted, although there were some who abused the early booking privileges. Two shows were expanded with two to three more people per group added, but the event still progressed smoothly.
