NOTES: The amount of delay in the audio channel becomes noticable at about 300ms. This type of delay can negativley affect communication.  Delays in video images can be slightly longer, although lack of lip sync is a noticable distraction. In order to guarentee consistant speed, often losy forms of compression are used to make smaller, more easily distributed signals.
