This short video(22:28) is a tribute to the power of human
survival in the face of our century's brutality and shameless staughter.
The Cambodian women here documented were under the bound servitude
to the Khmer Rouge between 1975 to 1979,
...all were afflicted with hysterical blindness,
all suffer today from hysterical blindness in one or both eyes,
and the longer they had been interned in the refugee camps,
the worst is their vision today.
As many as 15% of Cambodians living in the Long Breach area have PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Both the content of suffering and the form of the video which simulates partical blindness and horrific memory make this video difficult to view, but by this means it drives home its point doubly. |
