This would be my first freelance job.
(Art)n Laboratory, is located at Northwestern University. They along with some EVL people, concocted a form of art that can only be termed "Virtual Photography". The group created a photographic process called PHSColograms® (pronounced skol-o-grams), an acronym for photography, holography, sculpture and computer graphics.

Their work is fairly popular and widespread. They have been shown in a variety of places from art and natural history museums, to large scale corporations.
The work that you see above was a three month job in which they asked me to develop the models and render animation that would later be used to produce the actual PHSCologram®. I learned a lot about the PHSCologram® process, including the individual steps required to devleop the product. I also learned a lot about the demands and expectations when working as a freelance artist.
It was an interesting experience and one that I probably wouldn't want to trade. I was paid very well, and I was able to learn a software package that, up until that time, I didn't have too much experience with. More importantly, I established the fact that given a deadline and constraints, I can deliver a finished product.
