  • It got to the point where I realized that I wasn't going to have too many chances at getting a good job in the modeling/animation industry. It was at this point that I decided graduate school might be the option for me. In order for me to get into graduate school, I would need a portfolio, that demonstrated a variety of skills, and basically showcased them.

I had already acquired a fairly good collection of time-based pieces that I knew I would be able to submit. I had a fairly extensive collection of two-dimensional illustrative work (that was my main interest prior to computers). I needed to create some two-dimensional computer-based work that presented my design skills. Untitled II was piece that I designed to show off some illustration/design skills that I had acquired through the years.

I like the overall feel of the piece. It has a certain appeal in terms of design. I present the question off whether the "spheres" are rising or descending from/into the holes. There are a few problematics with the image. It could just as easily derive itself from an animation. I think that my mind works in such a way. I think that static images don't hold my attention unless in some respect they represent motion of a certain degree.

My earlier works demonstrate this "state of tension", as well as this current one.
