J. M. McCready Proof

Loomis 127

Part II, Proof 127, page 174 from E.S.Loomis, The Pythagorean Proposition (1940)

This is another way to draw the disection of proof #127. The parts of the riser and the base squares are ready to be moved into the hypotenuse square. The translation of parts into the hypotenuse square is completed. While the silver triangle has been replaced by a green one, the validity of the proof is secure.

The three multiples below enact the translations for this proof.

Two shapes are first moved into the (dark blue) hypotenuse square from the right-triangle and the base square. Then the two shapes that comprize the riser square are moved into place. Next, a small triangle is pulled off the red shape and fitted into the top corner of the hypotenuse square.
