EVL will be one of the host sites for the 2003 Emerging Global Technologies Leadership Symposium, sponsored by the Illinois International High School Initiative. The symposium utilizes Access Grid® technology to connect groups of science and social studies teachers from around the state, assisting in the development of curriculum that incorporates global issues in the high school curriculum.

The event is co-sponsored by the Illinois International High School Initiative (IHS), the Illinois Science Teachers Association (ISTA), the Center for International Business Education and Research (Illinois CIBER), the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), the Technology Research, Education and Commercialization Center (TRECC), and the University of Illinois at both the Chicago and the Urbana Champaign (UIUC) campuses.
