VISUAL AND AUDIO EFFECTS
The visual effects of the game were mostly achieved in Dark Basic Pro. The few effects we used such as spaceship exhaust systems were created in milkshape 3D. The effects such as bullets and shield were done using the 'ghost' feature in darkbasic. For the intro and outro movies, we used Swish max and exported to AVI. Part of the intro movie was also created in dark basic pro. The outro movies were created completely in darkbasic by timing the music to the credits and backgrounds. We used music for the intro movies and outro movies. No additional mixing was done to the music.

The sound effects were actually picked up from the darkbasic examples. We felt that these effects were sufficient enough to give the correct feel for the game. Our main splash screen, game over and loading screen were created in Adobe Photoshop. All the textures for the game were also developed in house using adobe photoshop and applied in milkshape 3D.

For the intro and outro music, we selected Radio Head's Idioteque and Coldplay's clocks for the intro. The outro used an old favorite from the 80's called Disco Science by a group called Mirwais. We liked the music very much and felt it empowered the game's design and story.

The models of the games at first were very earth like models but we stretched the imagination just a little bit and came up with new models designed in Milkshape 3D. Milkshape 3D allows for an artist to control the viewports very easily and we believe its a program made for programmers.
