Ygdrasil was developed at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ygdrasil was created by Dave Pape while completing his PHD studies at EVL. Dave is now an Assistant Professor of Media Study at the University of Buffalo.

Ygdrasil has been documented, maintained, and further developed by Alex Hill since 2001. Alex is a PHD candidate at EVL and teaches a class on Computer Graphics in the School of Art and Design at UIC.
