1966 Rotating the Cube

Rotating a single shape (the cube) may give some surprizing results.
A single illusionistic shape, a cube, is depicted using only circles
for the frontal plane, and an elipse (or part of it) to depict the
receeding side planes. This renders out an orthographic space.
(As seen in the icon above.)

This 12 inch square etching shows the cube rendered by linear circles
and elipses. To make this print, the etching plate was printed
four times with four different colored inks in the four possible
rotations, ie., once for each corner of the square.
By this rotation, the old cubic form is lost, and in its place
a new spacial form is made.

This large, square, silk-screened painting follows the same system,
creating a highly optical field for the eye to play with.
